Licensing

Fonts are software that are lincensed, not sold. When you buy a font, you are actually acquiring certain rights to use that font software. These rights are governed by an agreement called an End User License Agreement (EULA).

Fonts can be licensed by anyone, from independent designers and small design studios to large companies with thousands of employees or conglomerates that own multiple companies across various sectors. Since everyone has their own specific needs, use cases, and scale, it is not possible for us to offer a one-size-fits-all license. Instead, we offer several licensing options depending on your usage across each media.

You can select a license for any single media (e.g. print only or web only) or multiple media (e.g. print + web or print + web + digital ads) where you intend to use the fonts with exact quantity, so you pay only for what you actually use.

Each license allows the use of fonts within a specified media, at a specific scale, and for a given period of time. Each license also comes with its own set of do’s and don’ts. Please review the table below to quickly check what media is covered by each license, on what factor their prices are based, payment terms, and the license validity.

Desktop License

The Desktop License (also known as the Print License) allows you to install and use the font on your computer to create designs for printed materials such as brochures, posters, magazines, catalogs, office stationery, and outdoor ads. It also covers printing on surfaces like fabric, wood, plastic, and walls. You can use this license to create static digital images (JPG, PNG, TIFF, etc.) for websites, blogs, or indoor/outdoor digital signage.

This license permits the creation of logotypes, as long as the final logo is shared as outlined vector files (like PDF or SVG) or flattened images. You can also use it for graphics on physical, sellable products such as t-shirts, stationery, and packaging.

The price is based on the number of users or computers the font will be installed on. It’s a one-time payment, valid for a lifetime—as long as you stay within the licensed user count. If you need access for more users, a license upgrade is required.

This license does not cover usage on websites, apps, servers, videos, or in broadcast media. You may use static images created under this license on social media, but only if your total follower count is under 100,000. For broader social media use, a separate license is needed.

Fonts cannot be shared with third parties. To transfer ownership to a client, use the Transfer of License feature. If others outside your organization (like printers or freelancers) need access, a Service License is required.

Web License

A Web License allows you to embed fonts directly into a website or blog using the CSS @font-face rule. This ensures consistent typography across all devices, even if the font isn’t installed on the user’s system. When you purchase a Web License, you’ll receive a self-hosted webfont kit with all necessary files and instructions. The license is valid for one primary domain, but you can use the fonts on any number of subdomains. For example, if your main domain is company.com, the same license covers blog.company.com, admin.company.com, and so on. Localized domains like company.fr or company.in are treated as separate and require individual licenses.

Pricing is based on your website’s estimated monthly pageviews. To avoid exceeding your limit, it’s recommended to license for at least twice your current traffic. If your traffic grows, you can upgrade your license at any time by paying only the difference—no need to repurchase. As long as your traffic stays within the licensed limit, this is a one-time payment with lifetime validity.

The Web License is strictly limited to website or blog use. It does not cover usage in print, apps, video, or any other media. Fonts cannot be shared with third parties.

App License

An App License allows you to embed fonts directly into a mobile, desktop, or TV application across all operating systems. When you purchase this license, you receive font files that can be packaged and shipped with your app to end users. If the app is the same title across platforms (iOS, Android, Windows), one license covers them all. However, if you create a separate version of the app for desktop or TV, each requires its own license.

Pricing is based on the total number of monthly active users across all platforms for a single app title. It applies whether your app is free or paid. This is a one-time payment, valid for a lifetime—provided your active user count remains within the licensed limit. If your user base grows beyond the licensed threshold, you’ll need to upgrade the license by paying only the difference.

This license is strictly for use within apps and does not cover websites, print, or other media. Fonts cannot be shared with third parties.

Video License

The Video Game License allows you to use fonts within a video game distributed across any platform—PC, console, mobile, virtual reality, arcade, TV, web, or streaming. One license covers a single game title but can be used across all platforms. If you release multiple games, each title requires its own separate license.

Pricing is based on the total number of copies sold globally, regardless of platform. The license is valid for one year and can be renewed annually, with discounts available for multi-year commitments. This license is not available for direct purchase and must be requested through our team.

This license is strictly limited to video game use and does not cover other media. Fonts may not be shared with third parties.
